History in Action – A Year 8 Project

Our Year 8 History students have embarked on a captivating journey into the past, delving into the dramatic events of the Great Fire of London. To truly comprehend the impact of this historical catastrophe, they have taken on the creative role of filmmakers, writing, producing and editing their own video reenactments.

Dressed in costumes, our pupils have brought the sights and sounds of 1666 to life. From the initial outbreak of the fire to the devastation that followed, their video showcases the challenges faced by Londoners during this tumultuous time. Through their hard work and creativity, they have not only learned about the Great Fire but have also developed valuable film making skills.

By immersing themselves in this historical event, our pupils have gained a deeper understanding of the resilience of the city and its inhabitants. They have also developed a sense of empathy for those who lived through this traumatic experience. The Great Fire of London has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on our Year 8s, inspiring them to explore other significant events in history.
