The Year 7 camp out was absolutely brilliant! After setting up our tent down at the former potato fields (spinney fields), we roamed around the forest and played some manhunt tag. We started a fire in our wonderful fire pit, and warmed ourselves up as the weather started cooling down. We had a variety of activities; some people played twilight cricket, some built dens, some even created a blacksmith’s and forged some wooden tools! Bringing some water jugs down with us, we used trangias to boil the water and make noodles for supper, and everyone had a delicious feast. After finishing, we turned on the speaker and had a party with marshmallows and smores for pudding. We waited for the sunset and chilled by the fire until it got dark, which was incredibly entertaining as there was a dance show off. Knowing that we had a hike up the Long Mynd the next day, we returned to our tents and went to bed in our comfy sleeping bags, drained from the good time we had.
The Long Mynd hike was highly eventful, and we had some spectacular views during the hike. When we arrived, we immediately started the trail and began our journey into the valley to the top of the Long Mynd. On the way to the valley, we saw many sheep and a small waterfall, and some aspects of nature. When we reached the bottom of the valley, we had a break and enjoyed the sight of the hills surrounding us. Once we started going again, we ascended the trail and reached the top of the Long Mynd, and we were dazzled by the view. We stopped for a picnic and took a few pictures, then reluctantly descended back to our starting point. Overall, I think our experience was top-notch, and we definitely would like to do this again, as we really enjoyed the whole journey.
