We use thematic English to inspire creativity and this term, our Year 4 pupils have been embracing all things autumnal. During our weekly wellbeing sessions, they have enjoyed decorating pumpkins, creating leaf scratch art, and ‘broccoli painting,’ where they used broccoli as paintbrushes to make fun, textured designs.
These autumn-inspired activities have not only been great for creativity but will also serve as a springboard for their lessons. They will use their artwork as inspiration to create character descriptions and extend their language. We’re particularly excited to see them apply their skills in writing spooky newspaper articles about the mischievous ‘Pumpkin Patch Pirates’!
It’s been a wonderfully creative term so far, and we’re looking forward to seeing the children’s autumnal stories come to life.
