Our Year 6 pupils have once again excelled themselves with their tremendous efforts in the English Speaking Board (ESB) assessments this term. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, with all participating pupils achieving either a merit or distinction grade – a remarkable achievement.
From Botswana to Mount Everest and fishing to fashion, the range of topics the children shared was nothing short of astounding. Their presentations were not only informative but also a testament to their passion and creativity. The assessors were particularly impressed by the confident and enthusiastic way in which the children conveyed their interests and engaged in meaningful dialogue by asking insightful questions of one another.
In addition, they performed poetry by heart and recited from their choice of book; their success is a testament to the importance of oracy in fostering confident, articulate, and engaged young learners.
The ESB assessments provide an excellent platform for pupils to practise and showcase essential oracy skills. Through preparing and delivering their presentations, the children not only deepen their knowledge of their chosen topics but also develop their ability to structure their ideas, use expressive language, and connect with an audience.
Congratulations to all the Year 6 pupils for their outstanding achievement.
