Packwood’s much loved Sixes Cross Country brought Forms 3-8, along with a cheering crowd of families, out onto the fields in a celebration of sport, spirit and friendship. Pupils from every year group laced up their trainers and ran for their Six – Manning Sodens, Bradshaw Boyces, Harcourt Clarkes and McFerran Wilsons – proudly wearing their colours (and some even sporting our new scarves) and giving their best on the course.
The event is about far more than finishing times. From the first race to the last, the air rang with cheers of encouragement as children, staff and parents lined the route to support every runner. Whether at the front or the back of the field, pupils were spurred on by fellow Packwoodians clapping, chants and high-fives at the finish line. Many younger pupils spoke afterwards of how the older ones inspired them to keep going, while senior pupils set an example of sportsmanship and perseverance.
Our Sixes system thrives on these moments of shared challenge and celebration. The Cross Country once again showed Packwood at its best – united in effort, proud of every participant and strengthened by the camaraderie of running together.
