Voices That Shape Packwood: School and Food Councils Meet

We are delighted to share the success of the first School Council and Food Council meetings of the year at Packwood. Both councils bring together enthusiastic representatives from across the school, giving pupils a real voice in shaping school life.

During the School Council meeting, pupils eagerly shared ideas about how to make life at Packwood even better, from suggestions for new activities to ways of supporting one another in the classroom and beyond. It was inspiring to see the confidence with which pupils spoke, as well as their ability to listen carefully and build on each other’s ideas.

The Food Council also had a lively and constructive discussion. Representatives gave thoughtful feedback on menus and meal choices, with requests ranging from more fresh fruit, to (unsurprisingly!) more cakes and cookies, and even a wider selection of sauces to accompany meals. The catering team was especially impressed by the maturity of the pupils’ comments, their sense of fun, and their genuine enthusiasm for making snacks, lunchtime and boarders’ supper even more enjoyable.

Both councils are excellent opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills, teamwork, and take an active role in shaping the community they are part of. The energy and engagement on display at these first meetings set a very positive tone for the year ahead.

We look forward to seeing how the councils’ ideas develop and to the positive changes they will bring to Packwood.
