Packwood Acorns recently travelled to Chester Zoo to tie in with this term’s theme of “An African Adventure”. The children focused primarily on African animals and learnt fascinating facts about them. They were particularly surprised to discover that a lemur can jump up to nine metres. They had the opportunity to walk through the lemur habitat and observe them close up. The giraffes, lions and elephants seemed to captivate them most and they were fascinated by how tall even the baby giraffes are, and how they use their long necks to reach food. They also visited animals from other parts of the world, including a jaguar, a family of tigers and some Humboldt penguins.
