U11 Hardball Cup Finalists

On possibly the hottest day of the year, Packwood’s U11 Colts (including three Year 4s) travelled to Malvern to compete in the initial group stages against The Elms and St Hugh’s. Packwood won both very exciting games by very small margins. Highlights were Gabriel’s excellent 31 retired against The Elms. Kyle and George showed maturity to carry their bats to knock off the competitive score of 65 by St. Hugh’s. The main reason for the success was that the boys performed as a team and were not reliant on a few star players. This aspect really helped in another tight game in the semi final against Prestfelde. Packwood managed to defend 65 with everyone making a contribution which made the difference. In the final they played the hot favourites, Bluecoat school, and despite putting up a great fight, ultimately didn’t score enough runs in the first innings.

A Packwood parent commented “Given we had a very young side, we showed great attitude and desire, and did so well to reach another final. Despite Bluecoat having 5 Warwickshire county players, we still tried our hearts out! All the boys should be very proud.”

A fantastic team effort from the boys.
