On Sunday 9th February, a team of junior girls represented Packwood in the Weaver Dance festival held at the Barnes Theatre, Shrewsbury School. The day began with a warm up and dance workshop led by professional dancer and adjudicator, Jon Clayton. The warm up included conditioning as well as technical exercises at a very high level. The students then learned a musical theatre style jazz routine with many technical elements including leaps and turns. The juniors did an exceptional job, coping with the fast pace of the choreography and showing great resilience in tackling new technical exercises.
The children then performed their contemporary piece in the junior/intermediate category with passion and great care for one another. It was a wonderful opportunity to participate in a challenging workshop and to perform in a public competition. Congratulations to the dancers and Miss Gildam-Clark and many thanks to Miss Stanhope and Shrewsbury School for the opportunity.
