Acorns Shrewsbury Museum Trip

On Tuesday, the Acorns visited Shrewsbury Museum for a day of hands-on learning and discovery.

The trip began with a workshop focused on Charles Darwin, where the children explored his life and why he remains such an important figure in science and natural history. They listened attentively, asked thoughtful questions, and showed real interest in the ideas discussed.

After the workshop, the children were free to explore the museum’s many exhibits, which included an exciting mix of fossils, historical artefacts and curious objects from the past. One of the highlights was a hands-on fossil and bug hunt, led by our brilliant group leader. The children eagerly searched the displays to find hidden items, then worked together to group and sort them, thinking carefully about how to classify their discoveries.

The morning was filled with engaging activities that kept the children fully involved and working together. To finish the trip, they enjoyed their packed lunches outside, gathered beneath Packwood’s famous ‘Big Tree’ – the perfect way to end a fun and rewarding morning.
