On Thursday 19th June, Freddie C participated in the Mercia Prep Schools Athletics Championships against a seriously strong field of 32 prep schools.
He started with the Long Jump, placing second and achieving a PB of 4.89m.
In the High Jump he went clear all the way to 1.53, by which time there were just two left in the competition, as they increased by 1cm increments, which made for nail-biting viewing! At 1.54m, Freddie was clearing it easily, but his trailing leg kept catching the bar as he descended, so he was pipped to first place by another boy by 1cm.
Freddie now qualifies for the National Athletics Championships at Alexander Stadium in July and we wish him all the very best.
