Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed their annual Sports Day, held on Packwood’s Wykey Field. The event was a celebration of teamwork and positive sporting spirit.
The afternoon began with the running races, firstly ‘The Dash’ where children sprinted down the track to the cheers of their classmates and parents. This was followed by the shopping basket race, in which items on the track had to be collected before racing to the finish line. Finally, a race for younger siblings, who were given a chance to shine with the support of their older brothers and sisters.
Field events included javelin throw, a rounders ball throw, and the long jump, with children showing both skill and enthusiasm in each event. Every child gave their best effort.
The events concluded with a whole-group relay race, where every child in Acorns ran a leg, showcasing teamwork and unity – a fitting end to a spirited and inclusive afternoon of sport. The day rounded off with a medal ceremony, where each child was awarded for their efforts amid warm applause from families and friends. With proud smiles all around, everyone gathered to enjoy some well-earned refreshments, bringing the day to a relaxed close.
