Once again Packwood was transformed into a tartan wonderland for our annual tribute to the great bard from north of the border. This year the boarders were asked to make a particular effort with their traditional dress and prizes were on offer for the best dressed. As with previous years, Mr Robertson helpfully aided by Mr and Mrs Caithness, put the boarders through their paces, rehearsing in the preceding weeks three key dances with Strip the Willow as ever proving to be hugely popular.
The evening began with the traditional parading and address to the haggis which was piped in by Logan, U6th Shrewsbury School pupil. Mr Caithness addressed the Haggis whilst our two youngest boarders, Viviana and Sam prepared themselves for a grand stabbing of the beast! This was all washed down with a slosh of Irn-Bru and the dancing commenced.
This year was undoubtedly one of the best years with all of the boarders, regardless of their experience, really taking it in their stride and (literally in some cases) throwing themselves into it! There were some added japes as the pupils vied for the much coveted ‘Tam O’Shanter’ of destiny which this year was awarded to Molly. Many thanks to the many staff who helped to support the boarders and in particular the superb catering team who prepared such a lovely feast.
