During the Easter holidays, Clarissa in Form 3 took part in her very first judo competition, the Richard Lloyd Memorial 2026 Level 2 Development Event at SKK Judo Club in Newton-le-Willows. Competing alongside seven other members of her judo club in Ford, Clarissa performed brilliantly and brought home a well-earned bronze medal.
This was a challenging event, especially as she faced older and more experienced opponents, as well as stepping onto the mat for the first time in a competitive setting. Despite this, Clarissa showed great courage, determination, and focus throughout. We are incredibly proud of her effort and achievement – an excellent start to her judo journey!
Form 8 pupil, Guy, recently achieved an impressive double victory. He remains unbeaten in his weight category – a fantastic accomplishment – only placing runner-up when competing in a higher weight class. As an Under 15 competitor, this puts him at a significant disadvantage, making his success even more commendable.
During the half-term break, Guy competed in the World Martial Arts Committee English Open, where he once again excelled, winning in both of his weight classes. His commitment to training, determination to improve, and courage to step outside his comfort zone truly set him apart.
Guy and Clarissa’s journeys reflect the values we encourage in all our pupils: embracing challenges, striving for excellence, and enjoying the process of learning and growth.
