It has been a fantastic start to the term for sport, with everyone getting stuck into their Games lessons and making the most of the opportunities on offer. By the Exeat weekend, every pupil in the Prep School will have had the opportunity to represent the school in a fixture – a brilliant reflection of the enthusiasm and commitment across the school.
There have been plenty of opportunities to compete, develop skills and, most importantly, enjoy playing sport. It has been particularly pleasing to see all of Form 3 take part in their first ever sports festivals against another school, with pupils competing in hockey and football. For many, this was their first experience of representing the school, and they embraced the opportunity with great enthusiasm.
In addition to the U9 festivals, we have also hosted an U11 hockey festival where all of Form 5 and 6 girls represented the school, playing five matches against teams from across Shropshire and Staffordshire.
Football has got off to a terrific start with matches for our four senior teams and U11s. Both our U11 and U13 teams attended the Shrewsbury School Football Festival where the U13 boys had a particularly successful outing, finishing 2nd in their competition.
It has also been fantastic to see our new pupils settling into school sport so quickly. Many have taken on sports they have never played before and have picked them up remarkably quickly, showing great enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a real team spirit.
A huge thank you to the Games staff for their hard work, encouragement and support both in lessons and at fixtures. Their commitment has helped ensure such a positive and action-packed start to the term.
We look forward to plenty more sporting opportunities and successes over the coming weeks.
