The Packwood Award theme for Packwood Seniors this term is all things ‘food’, bringing their creativity and awareness of global issues to our plates.
They were treated to an afternoon with visiting speaker Julia Viani, TootSweetShrews chocolatier, BBC Good Food ambassador and educationalist. There were plenty of ‘ahhhhhhs’ as the smells of flatbread, cooking honey, and street food fillings wafted from the sizzling pans on her induction hobs. Students displayed their extensive knowledge, as they discussed nutrition, regenerative farming, food miles, carbon foot prints and opportunities for further studies and careers.
Whilst Juniors continue to ‘grow their own’ with Mrs Lambkin, Year 8 will plan and cook their own dishes with Miss Gill in Packwood Award and with Mrs Rogers in Cookery Club.
Everyone is buzzing with excitement about their creations and our other visiting speakers this term who will present fascinating topics including ‘Food for Life‘, ‘Body Fuel For Marathons‘ and ‘The Importance of Bees‘.
