It was a tremendous pleasure to welcome almost 50 former Packwoodians back to school for this year’s Alumni Day, with guests spanning an extraordinary eight decades of Packwood history. While much has changed over the years, everyone was united by a shared affection for the school and the memories that have remained with them long after leaving.
The day began with coffee before alumni enjoyed tours of the school, revisiting familiar corners whilst discovering the many developments that have shaped Packwood in recent years. A drinks reception and a traditional fish and chips lunch provided the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends and share stories from across the generations.
During lunch, the Head reflected on what has always defined a Packwoodian and explored how those enduring qualities continue to shape the school’s future. As Packwood embarks on its next chapter as part of the Shrewsbury Family of Schools, he spoke about the importance of preserving what has always made the school special: a childhood that is rich in opportunity, rooted in character and, above all, unhurried.
Throughout the day, there was a genuine warmth in the conversations, with many guests commenting on the strength of the school’s community and the exciting direction in which Packwood is travelling. One alumnus captured the mood perfectly:
“It was a rich experience to visit Packwood again, and a bonus to be made as welcome as we were. It is also very good to see how Packwood has developed and is looking to the future.”
It was a wonderful celebration of the enduring Packwood spirit, reminding us that while buildings may evolve and generations pass through the school, the values, friendships and sense of belonging that define a Packwoodian continue to stand the test of time.
