We had three fantastic days of problem-solving and teamwork, from Reception through to Year 7, using dowels and rubber bands to bring architecture to life. We began in the theatre foyer, taking advantage of the natural light to start building the top section of a massive Egyptian pyramid with Year 3. They then carried the top to the sports hall, where the pyramid was completed. Year 5 designed an impressive Ferris wheel that moved simply by hand power, while Year 7, given the freedom to explore their creativity, crafted abstract art-inspired sculptural structures. Year 1 and 2 worked together to build a castle, complete with a drawbridge, which they proudly marched in and out of. Meanwhile, Year 4 was tasked with designing habitats for different climates; Arctic, desert, or rainforest. Each design was then tested against the unique conditions of these climates, putting their creations to the ultimate test!
Throughout the workshops, the children grew more confident and enthusiastic as they collaborated and embraced their creativity, leaving everyone surprised, inspired and delighted by what they could achieve together.
