As the new term began, we were delighted to welcome back our boarders to the warmth of The Warren. Despite the frosty temperatures and sub-zero mornings, the return of our pupils reignited the spirit of camaraderie and adventure that defines our boarding community. Fortunately, these crisp starts have given way to breathtaking sunrises, and The Warren continues to offer one of the most picturesque vantage points on the school site.
Already, the term has been marked by exciting developments. Following the inspiring launch of the Packwood Strategic Plan 2030, the Front Hall has been transformed into an inviting space where pupils can unwind and engage with a variety of new games. This welcoming environment has quickly become a hub of activity, fostering friendships and relaxation in equal measure.
The ever-popular Nerfwars have reached new heights with some brand new kit, adding a fresh dimension to these energetic and strategic battles. Meanwhile, some of our more enterprising boarders have taken their sense of adventure indoors, pitching a tent within a dorm – why wait for the perfect weather to enjoy a camping experience? When it is time to unwind, the pre-bed reading sessions in the bean bag area provide the perfect opportunity for quiet reflection in this cosy ‘chill-out zone’.
Wednesday evenings now bring a new element of excitement. Boarders are immersing themselves in dance rehearsals in preparation for our much-anticipated Burns Night celebration on Wednesday, 5th February at 5:30 pm. The event will feature all the classic festivities, from a traditional piper and a feast of haggis, neeps, and tatties to a lively ceilidh. Sporrans and tam o’shanters will twirl and kilts will add a vibrant touch of tartan to the occasion. Pupils are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the evening by wearing tartan and kilts where possible.
