Year 8 parents and special guests were both informed and enthralled by the variety of Year 8 lessons during Packwood’s first Celebration of Learning event this year.
There was a wonderful mix of academic and practical subjects including, Maths, Science, PE, Geography and Art. There may have been some initial trepidation about the Year 8 Maths, but all was forgotten when the groups quickly embraced the lively Maths quizzes and problem-solving tasks. In Science, they made mini quadrats and used them for sampling the abundance and distribution of birds within an image, some more Maths involved here too!
Inclusivity was the theme in PE, gaining a deeper understanding of how people with disabilities participate and compete in a wide range of sport with adaptations. Our Head of Geography demonstrated some quality, active revision methods to pupils and parents. They worked through these together and had opportunities to ask questions before their upcoming exams.
In the Art Studio there was an instant sense of calm. Parents and children were peacefully creating some beautiful images of insects on silver foil, which helps the vibrant colours pop out.
Parents commented on the quality of the lessons and the wide variety of learning at Packwood. Today’s event welcomes Year 7 parents, joining lessons in English, Music, TPR, History and Science.
