Year 2 and Year 4 have been working hard this half term to prepare for their English Speaking Board (ESB) exam. The children prepared a short 2-minute speech on ‘Something Special to Me’, entertaining the examiners with their stories about their pets, football shirts and trophies, model aeroplanes, skiing certificates and Lego masterpieces.
They also had to recite a poem by heart and read a passage from their favourite book. Another interesting aspect to the exam was the need to listen carefully to each other and ask relevant questions at the end of the talks. The children all did themselves proud, and the examiners were impressed with their good listening skills and their brilliant behaviour on the day. We eagerly await the results!
