A huge thank you to all the pupils who took part in our recent Food Council meetings. We received lots of thoughtful and creative feedback, with pupils sharing both the meals they love and ideas for how we could develop the menu further.
Pupils were particularly positive about favourites such as roast lunches, fish and chips, lasagne, pasta dishes, chicken goujons, curry, nachos, apple crumble and custard, brownies, oat cookies and our themed lunches. They also asked for more international and themed days, pizza lunches, a wider choice of snacks, more vegetarian options and a few special treats for our boarders.
The kitchen team are now looking at a number of these suggestions. We are delighted to confirm an Italian Theme Day on Friday 16 October, featuring pizza and ice cream, and we are also planning to bring back our popular Sushi Day in late spring/summer. Snack options, vegetarian dishes and some of the pupils’ other requests, including sandwiches, pasties and Victoria sponge, are also being reviewed.
Not every suggestion is possible because of practical considerations such as seasonality, kitchen capacity and ensuring there is enough interest, but every idea has been listened to and carefully considered.
Thank you again to our Food Council representatives for helping to shape life at Packwood. And, perhaps the most important piece of feedback of all: everyone loves halloumi!
