Form 5 have started their TPR unit on Hinduism.
Our ‘Big Idea’ has been ‘what can we learn from the lives of others?’
We had the opportunity at the Hindu Workshop to explore our Essential Question “what can we learn from the Trimurti?” Our guest, Krishna, dressed up Sam as Brahma, Phoebe as Saraswati, Max and Elijah as Vishnu, Herriot as Lakshmi, Cas as Shiva and Ottilie as Parvati. We then recapped on Rama and Sita and the Diwali story.
We were delighted to spend the morning listening to her stories. We learnt about Krishna and Radha, Ganesha and Indra. We learnt a stick dance and discussed meditation, reincarnation and prayer. We were thrilled to dress up in beautiful saris, prayer shawls and turbans. Krishna sang to us and she shared Hindu philosophy. The children showed great respect, empathy and imagination. They asked questions and were resourceful as they learnt to follow the expressive dance moves that told a story. It was an exciting and joyful way to spend the morning.
