Having returned from their leadership retreat, several of our Form 8s have already had the chance to put their skills into action, having taken part in the selection process at Shrewsbury School for the Sir Michael Palin All-Rounder Scholarship, recognising commitment, character, and ability across a range of disciplines. The pupils embodied the values and spirit of Packwood, demonstrating not only their academic skills but also the leadership, enthusiasm, and integrity that are such key tenets of our community.
Back at Packwood, we are turning our attention towards supporting those pupils preparing for academic scholarships to their chosen senior schools. In the coming weeks, we are excited to launch our Academic Scholarship Preparation Programme, designed to nurture intellectual curiosity and foster independent, analytical thinking. This new initiative will include weekly seminars led by key specialist members of staff, where pupils will explore challenging topics that extend beyond the Common Entrance syllabus. In addition, our Scholarship Clinics and preparation pack will provide opportunities for pupils to discuss ideas, tackle problems, and receive tailored feedback as they refine their approaches to critical thinking and written expression.
The aim of this provision is not simply to prepare pupils for examinations, but to inspire a love of learning that will serve them well throughout their education and beyond. By combining curiosity with discipline, creativity with rigour, and independence with collaboration, our Form 8s are developing the skills and mindset that will help them thrive in the next stage of their academic journey.
