On Tuesday 19th May, many of our LAMDA students gathered to perform as part of the LAMDA showcases which are intended as a sharing of their work to date with a supportive audience ahead of their examined performances.
Packwood is proud to offer children the opportunity to work towards these qualifications offered by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) which is the oldest, and one of the most prestigious, Drama schools in the UK.
We have children from form 3 to form 8 working towards LAMDA exams this year across three different syllabi. Exams begin at the introductory stages and go up to bronze, silver and gold medal level which carry with them UCAS points and therefore allow children to continue their LAMDA journey as they transition to senior school.
Performing in front of friends and family gives the children the chance to perform their pieces in a ‘live’ setting and therefore respond and adapt to an audience. The performances will also give them confidence to perform in front of an examiner with some children performing as a solo or duo for the first time.
From humans to witches and monsters, tea bags to chess pieces and well known characters like ‘The Twits’, the children’s performances spanned the full theatrical gamut and they should be very proud of all they have achieved to date. In lessons, children have been reflecting on their performances and considering what they have learned from the audience’s reactions and what they found more challenging in front of an audience to inform their preparations for their exams on 29th June.
