Tuesday 7th December saw the culmination of a term’s worth of work across the Packwood community as senior students took to the stage, the technical box and the wings for the first performance of this year’s senior production of Frozen Jr.
We were equally delighted to welcome such a large cross section of audience members across the two evenings from the Packwood community including parents, friends, past pupils, current and ex staff from both Packwood and Shrewsbury school, as well as local community members. Even Storm Darrah did not perturb audience members who were equally encouraging on Saturday night in applauding even more enthusiastic performances if that could be possible.
Of course, the performances of any show are the icing on the cake of a much longer rehearsal process and we thank everyone involved in supporting the pupils who rose successfully to the challenge of balancing their various commitments and contributing so positively to the production. All pupils should be commended for their positive attitude and resilience but those involved in the technical aspects of the production showed particular leadership and independence in designing and running the lighting and sound for the production including organising microphones, sound checks and musical cues.
Pupils have developed their performance skills but more importantly, worked as an enormous team to achieve a common goal as some of the pupil comments below demonstrate. We hope the memories will also last a lifetime.
“By the end we all learned to work as a company”
“It was a great experience”
“We learned from our mistakes and how to solve problems”
“The lighting enhanced the look of the show”
