A piece of artwork based on Charles Darwin made for a science project

Packwood’s Scientist of the Term Project

Each term, in the Science department, pupils have the opportunity to produce a voluntary individual research project on a chosen scientist – ‘The Scientist of the Term’. This term the children throughout the Prep school were given the opportunity to research any aspect of Charles Darwin.

The submissions were, without exception, outstanding pieces of work. Projects included a model of Darwin’s house with information in each window and behind each door, powerpoint presentations, 3D clay models, a model showing Darwin’s evolutionary tree (including QR codes hanging from each branch opening a link to an audio description) and even a hand drawn replica of Darwin’s journal.

Typically, there would be a prize awarded for the best entry, but on this occasion, with the effort and imagination applied to each and every project, it was impossible to single out an overall winner. Each and every entrant is commended for their hard work, creativity and intellectual curiosity.
