Scientist of the Term

Each term, in the Science department pupils have the opportunity to produce a project on a well known Scientist, we call this Scientist of the Term. This term, with the exciting opening of the Science Centre, we have chosen Charles Darwin as our Scientist of the Term.

Pupils are encouraged to produce a project in any format they choose, on any aspect of Charles Darwin, be it about Charles himself, HMS Beagle, the Galapagos Islands, any animal he discovered or anything linked with Charles Darwin. It is not compulsory, but for those who choose to take part, suggestions for possible projects include; a newspaper article reporting on a discovery/theory of evolution, a model, a 3D poster or any other idea they come up with. They are very much encouraged to use their imagination and focus on something that is particularly interesting to them.

Independent work is such an important skill and this will help them when it comes to performing their own research, determining which research to use and to develop self motivation skills that are vital when moving to their senior school. It also tends to be very enjoyable and there have been some fantastic projects submitted in the past.

The project will need to be done outside class time and the deadline for submissions is Friday 24th November.
