It’s been an action-packed fortnight, with our U11 teams competing in football and hockey tournaments at Terra Nova School, and our U10s putting their footballing skills to the test at Repton. Meanwhile, the U13A team travelled to Oxford for the IAPS Regional Finals. These tournaments provide our school with valuable opportunities to challenge ourselves beyond our regular fixtures, and to aspire to even higher levels of performance.
The senior boys welcomed a number of Old Packwoodians on site for the annual fixtures against Shrewsbury School U14s. Always a great opportunity for current pupils to catch up with their old team mates and find out about the first two weeks of term at Shrewsbury School, known as ‘Foundation Fortnight.’
All Year 6, 7 and 8 girls were involved in Sixes Hockey on the astroturf, and showed great team spirit. Bradshaw Boyces were the overall winners, but all played tremendously well.
Week 6 started with all U11 and U9 girls involved in matches with Moreton Hall. Packwood hosted the U9s for hockey and the U11s travelled to Moreton Hall for Lacrosse. Mrs Nicholas and Miss Willis both remarked at the progress all pupils had made in the first 5 weeks of term and were particularly impressed with the skills on show and the effective decision-making they demonstrated within game situations.
On Sunday, more than 50 of our pupils took part in the Prep School Cross Country Championships at Shrewsbury School. Competing in a field of 300 runners, with strong contenders from schools nearby and also much further afield, the event proved to be a tough challenge for all categories. Our pupils rose to the occasion, with some outstanding performances and medals across various age groups. Most importantly, they did a fantastic job of cheering one another on.
