Congratulations to our U11 Girls’ Hockey Team, who were crowned champions at the Terra Nova U11 Hockey Festival, securing first place on goal difference after an excellent day of hockey.
The team demonstrated tremendous determination, skill and teamwork throughout the festival, with every player making an important contribution to the overall success. Their performances were consistently strong and they showed great resilience in a closely contested competition.
A special mention must go to Polly in goal, who produced a number of outstanding saves at crucial moments to keep the team in contention. Tavy stepped seamlessly into the sweeper position, making several excellent tackles and showing great composure in defence.
In midfield and out wide, Sienna and Felicity worked tirelessly at centre midfield and right wing respectively, ensuring the team could consistently apply pressure to the opposition. Their energy, work rate and willingness to battle for every ball were instrumental throughout the day.
Further up the pitch, Ottilie and Skye led the attack with tenacious running that created numerous opportunities for the team. Isla continued to demonstrate her versatility, making a significant impact on the wing while also tracking back to make several goal-saving tackles in defence when her team needed her most.
A huge well done must also go to Jemimah, who made the significant step up from U9 hockey to compete against teams made up predominantly of Year 6 players. She embraced the challenge brilliantly, showing great determination, courage and maturity throughout the day, and more than held her own against older opposition.
Winning the festival on goal difference highlights just how competitive the day was, but the girls fully deserved their success through their commitment, teamwork and positive attitude. Well done to all involved on a fantastic achievement and a memorable victory at the Terra Nova Hockey Festival.
