Year 5 have recently enjoyed an enriching day in Derby as part of their TPR curriculum, learning about various faiths and cultures. Blessed with sunshine, the children explored the vibrant high street, where they encountered a dazzling array of foods, traditional clothing, and beautiful jewellery that reflect the area’s rich cultural tapestry.
The highlights of the trip included visits to both a Mosque and a Mandir, where pupils were warmly welcomed by members of the Muslim and Hindu communities. In each place of worship, they experienced wonderful hospitality, including the sharing of gifts and traditional wedding sweets during a visit to the Wedding Workshop.
What stood out most was the mutual respect between the pupils and their hosts. The children asked thoughtful questions throughout the day, helping to deepen their understanding of different faiths and to experience the values of kindness, community, and respect.
A truly memorable day for all involved.
