Year 5 completed their studies on Islam and Hinduism with a visit to the Derby Open Centre earlier this term. Here, in this very special organisation, members of various faiths invite visitors to see their places of worship. Sam, one of the guides, invited the group to see the Hindu Mandir. This was full of people, music, flower petals and incense. The pupils were able to learn more about Arti, the special form of Hindu prayer.
They were then invited into the Derby Mosque, before heading back to the Open Centre for lunch, followed by a Wedding Workshop and the opportunity to try some Indian sweets. The trip was full of respect, fascination and new experiences for all involved.
