Dark evenings improve Nerf Gun battles. Fact. If you happen to pass through the front hall in boarding time of a winter term evening beware. You’ll hear it first of all: shrieks of delight and whispered tactics; the whistle as a Nerf Gun bullet whizzes past your ear; a stampede of Warren boarders desperate to avoid being caught. Probably the most popular boarding activity for all ages and infinitely more fun when you can’t quite see what’s about to happen.
‘Sock Wars’ have been brought out of retirement and have also been a bit of a hit. This is very much what it says on the tin…basically lobbing balled up socks (shhh…don’t tell matron…!) between teams in the link corridor. Super fun and surprisingly energetic!
Big congrats to those boarders involved in the production of Oliver. I must say that not a little pride was felt as the seniors sang danced and acted their hearts out. Bravo! A big well done must also be said to all the boarding singers and readers involved in the end of term carol services. Well done for super efforts all.
Christmas is very much in evidence in the Warren and the Christmas decorators have rather surpassed themselves this year. The taller members of staff have had to employ a limbo approach to entering dorms to avoid being garrotted by low lying fairy lights and the place looks wonderfully festive. If you haven’t managed to catch a glimpse of the tree in the Snug, then do try and rectify that situation as it is a work of, well I wouldn’t quite say art, but certainly a work of something, and a huge well done must be said to Mr Jones and his intrepid Junior Boarder decorators. Take a bow Housman, Clyde, Twickenham and Long Mynd dorms for winning the dorm decorating competition and thanks to our pro Christmas decs judge Mrs Goldsmith for the unenviable role she carried out in judging it.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone in the Warren. Mr. Robertson has written his Christmas list and, in case any of you were worried, he has put a new torch for Nerf sniper, right at the top of it.
Life in the Warren
We were delighted to work on a new Boarding House video this term. Step inside Packwood boarding to see a warm, lively community where pupils feel at home, make lifelong friends and enjoy every moment.
