This year’s Sixes Singing was one of several Sixes Days throughout the year, a great way to promote teamwork in our house system. Pupils from Form 3 up to Form 8 split into their Sixes groups and, led by the staff of their Six, spent the morning learning two songs for the afternoon competition – this year on the theme of classic Disney films. Staff threw themselves fully into the task and became singing teachers, choreographers and props managers for the morning.
Following a Sixes lunch, the competition itself took place in the theatre. Harcourt Clarkes took the audience under the sea with a number of inflatable fish; Mannings Sodens helped everyone to feel the love tonight with ambitious antiphony and harmony; Bradshaw Boyces showed their teamwork by having a friend in me; and McFerran Wilsons demonstrated the bare necessities of life with an energetic wander around the stage. All Sixes performed the set song ‘Candle on the Water’ from Pete’s Dragon. Mr Jonny Fitch from Oswestry School provided thoughtful feedback – and the winners were announced as Bradshaw Boyces. An enjoyable and uplifting day for all involved.
