For their first weekend back following the Easter break, the girls from Park House enjoyed dining out for lunch, followed by a visit to the Brook House Animal Sanctuary. They thoroughly enjoyed their pizza before setting off for Newcastle on Clun, via beautiful countryside. On arrival at the animal sanctuary, the hosts, Tina and James, greeted the girls within minutes and they were soon feeding the ponies. Tina and James work closely with vets and animal welfare teams and have opened their doors to more than one hundred animals from kunekune pigs to llamas, dwarf cows and tame hand-reared roe deer.
Having fed the ponies, the girls moved on to meet the rabbits and guinea pigs, taking it in turns to hold them. The rabbits were quickly followed by the lambs, as the girls learned about the different lambs and their mothers. The llamas weren’t quite as sociable and kept their distance, so we said a quick hello to some goats and fed the deer.
The afternoon concluded with a wonderful spread of cake and scones, which the girls enjoyed whilst sitting on hay bales surrounded by chickens. A wonderfully relaxing, informative and uplifting afternoon!
