Packwood Boarders Celebrate Culture and Events

The Spring Term is off to an energetic start for the Packwood Boarders who have already enjoyed a Burns Night celebration, a Roller Disco, and a trip to Inflata Nation.

Sunday activities have seen a revamp with more offerings offsite and the opportunity to see what Shropshire and neighbouring counties have to offer. The Spring activity line up, which includes a trip to watch the Women’s Super League Football at Liverpool, alongside Ninja Warrior in Birmingham, is certainly raising eyebrows and proving very popular with the whole boarding community.

Inflata Nation was a real hit with the younger boarders who bounced through two hours of different assault courses and exerted endless energy enjoying trampolines, bouncy castles and the like. This was a new experience for many and one which will remain a constant addition to the boarding programme. Mrs Jackson-Hutt was rumoured to have her bouncing shoes on and was seen giving all activities a trial run.

The Roller Disco was a real blast from the past! It was great to see the whole boarding community enjoying music, roller blades and a great deal of fun as a DJ brought the Sports Hall to life with mesmerising lights and great tunes.

The Wednesday Evening Programme is becoming increasingly culturally diverse with many different activities planned over the following two terms. The eagerly awaited Burns Night kicked off the term in true Gaelic style with a real piper, Scottish fayre and traditional dancing. Mr. Robertson put the boarders through their paces with three different Scottish reels all performed with energy and enthusiasm. The wonderful kitchen staff provided fantastic cuisine which included haggis, tatties and stovies. A true delight for all. The highlight had to be the piper playing from Logan; a pupil from Shrewsbury, who thrilled us all with his sounds.

We are now looking forward to St. David’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day coming in the near future. Alongside this the boarders will be celebrating Songkran Festival from Thailand and Holi Festival from India.
