The eagerly anticipated 2024 Packwood Leavers’ Trip to Broadhaven, Pembrokeshire took place on 10th June.
Bags were packed, dorms were allocated and the excitement was palpable. For the 43 Year 8 pupils and accompanying staff, a whole week of water based activities, climbing and carting lay ahead.
The week flew by, with all of the children participating in each activity, conquering their fears, tackling challenging tasks and making lifelong friends. Whether it was coasteering along the Welsh coast, kayaking up a hidden creek or racing around an indoor carting track, great fun was had by all.
The Youth Hostel accommodation was fantastic and, along with the wonderful food, provided a great base for the children to enjoy their final activity as a year group. There was plenty of opportunity for ice cream, a little shopping and sunset trips to the beach. The conditions were perfect, with plenty of summer sun and stunning scenery.
The experiences had by all will no doubt create lasting memories and stand them in good stead to participate in all that’s on offer at their senior schools.
Many thanks go to the accompanying staff who spent time with the children as well as taking part in the various activities, and the Year 8s should be commended for the way in which they enthusiastically embraced each new challenge and adventure.
