As we sail into the final term of the academic year, it is with great pleasure that we announce the appointments of Esme, Gabriel and Rory as our three Heads of School for the term. Following the excellent example set by James, Lulie, Maisie and Geordie, they will play a key role in setting the tone and example to our younger children. Part of the great benefit of a 13+ prep school is that children experience leadership, responsibility and the notion of becoming a big fish in a small pond. There is no other experience comparable to this, and we see an almost transformational impact that this level of responsibility gives young people.
In reflecting on their roles as Heads of School, all seven pupils agreed that it had made them immensely proud. Geordie reflected that he was the first in his family, whilst James and Rory felt a sense of accomplishment different to anything else. Having joined Packwood from USA in September, Esme reflected that her previous school didn’t have positions of responsibility like this and that it had such a positive impact on her. Maisie and Lulie shared in their own sense of achievement and the joy of role modelling and having a positive influence on the younger pupils. Gabriel reflected that it had been his ambition and, having interviewed twice for the position, he felt a real sense of development having been appointed to the role.
Whilst the role is primarily an ambassadorial one, they and the rest of the top year do set the tone for the school community, and it’s wonderful to share in their sense of ownership and pride.
