Every child deserves to feel understood, supported and able to succeed. Our Learning Support Department works with pupils from Reception through to Form 8, ensuring that each child is given the right blend of encouragement, guidance and specialist teaching to help them reach their full potential both in and beyond the classroom.
We know that no two learners are the same. Children arrive with a wide range of strengths, learning profiles and needs. For some, support may be short-term and focused on a specific skill; for others, a more sustained and carefully tailored approach is needed. What remains consistent is our commitment to meeting each child where they are and helping them move forward with confidence to reach their goals.
A key strength of our provision is our team. Alongside skilled HLTAs and teaching assistants who support learning in the classroom, our Learning Support Department is led by experienced, fully qualified specialist SEN teachers. This expertise allows us to design and deliver personalised, evidence-based programmes that are carefully matched to individual needs and reviewed regularly to ensure steady, meaningful progress.
Our approach is highly collaborative. Learning Support staff work closely with class teachers, subject specialists, pastoral teams and parents to ensure that strategies are consistent and that each child feels supported across all areas of school life. This shared understanding helps pupils feel secure, valued and able to engage fully in their learning.
Importantly, Learning Support at Packwood is about far more than addressing “challenges”. It is about recognising each child’s strengths, building self-belief and nurturing independence. We help pupils to understand how they learn best, develop effective strategies, and grow in resilience so they can approach new challenges with confidence.
From Reception through to Form 8, our commitment remains the same: to help every child feel capable, included and successful. Through specialist teaching, tailored support and a nurturing environment, we ensure that pupils not only make strong academic progress, but also develop the confidence and independence to thrive well beyond Packwood.
